The management of the Polyvalente St-Jérôme high school, of the Rivière-du-Nord school board (CSRDN) welcomes the Aeronautics Training Program. We would like to thank Mr. Richard Pouliot, Director of the school, for allowing the implementation of the largest AERO LAB to date: 12 flight simulators, to accommodate 24 students at a time.
Aviation Connection and Polyvalente St-Jérôme thank the Airbus Foundation.
The AEROLAB will be used for the first Canadian edition of the Airbus Foundation’s ‘ Youth Flying Challenge” STEM program. This challenge is being carried out in partnership with the organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Porte du Nord and Aviation Connection.
The Airbus Flying Challenge is a program of STEM activities and mentoring for young people. The objective is to associate Airbus employees with students from the region, in order to interest local youth in aeronautics careers.
The Polyvalente St-Jérôme High School, with nearly 3,000 students, is the largest in Quebec.
In 2019, Polyvalente de Saint-Jérôme became the best of the large public schools with more than 2,000 students. Principal Richard Pouliot, in office since 2017, achieved a tour de force by making a change in the way of teaching and by putting an end to the lectures. Another element explaining the success of the Polyvalente Saint-Jérôme is the close monitoring of students. Today, the school is seeing its out of 10 rating climb to 7.4 and its late student rate halving. Aviation Connection is proud to be part of the skills development strategy for students at École Polyvalente St-Jérôme.
In October 2020, the program: Artificial Intelligence and drones was launched at Polyvalente St-Jérôme thanks to the support of the Government of Quebec, CAE and the participation of Polytechnique. Thanks to the participation of 4 science teachers supported by Aviation Connection instructors, nearly 360 students participate. Fifteen drones (2 students per drone), are used to discover the basics of AI. and the Python language among others.
