MASSEY-VANIER SCHOOL
January 2018, Massey-Vanier high school welcomes the Aeronautics Training program offered free to high school students, extracurricular.
This program was created thanks to the partnership of the City of Cowansville, the Val-des-Cerfs school board, the Ministry of Economy and Science, the Nova Sciences program and the program of the Ministry of education for perseverance school as well as the support of the MRC Brome-Missisquoi.
Massey-Vanier is the incubator of this unique program. This is a first in North America: a success!
THE FIRST AERO LAB IN CANADA! A PLANE IN THE SCHOOL!
6 flight simulators and a small PA16 aircraft in perfect working order are made available to students by the Aviation Connection Company. The aircraft, a small 1947 PA16 donated to Aviation Connection, will be restored by the students in collaboration with certified mechanics from Aviation Goulet de Bromont. The aircraft will leave the AERO LAB in April for its workshop where the work will be carried out.
The restoration will involve the participation of CRIF (Integrated Regional Training Center) as well as students from CEGEP de Granby who will contribute their expertise in machining techniques for the manufacture of certain parts.
The progress of the restoration can be followed on this site from September 2019.
Fifty students are enrolled in the program. English side (Eastern Township School Board) and French side (Val-des-Cerfs School Board) combined.
Three days of lessons are offered: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The ‘MIDI AVIATION’ on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday allow 1st and 2nd secondary students to familiarize themselves with the program using a simplified curriculum.
